The Awesomeness that is Jessica

We’re getting ready…

Ok I am currently at the doctors office awaiting my diabetes test. I wasn’t allowed to eat or drink anything 8 hours before I got here and then I had to have a super sugary drink! BLEH! No fun… but it was fruit punch so it was kinda ok. Well now I am patiently waiting for them to take my blood so I can leave and get some work done…

In baby news… Cali has been super active (especially when I am trying to sleep) and recently decided she wanted to sit on my spine. Possibly the most painful thing I have ever felt. Also she is getting big and now wants to stretch out and kick around, but the space is getting limited… She gets so excited when she hears Brady’s voice, especially when he hasn’t been around all day. When she hears him she flip flops… its so cute. Also she gets mad if Paco lays on my for too long. She will kick him off and then he gets up and huffs away…

Peeing at night is getting better now, I haven’t had to get up so many times at night… but now I have severe back pain which keeps me up MORE than having to pee…

Now at 27 weeks… the time to see our baby girl is getting closer! So everyone get excited!!

Oh that crazy baby of ours…

Well now I’m just about 22 weeks along and little Calista is kicking around like crazy! She is now big enough that she is kicking above my belly button about an inch and a half above my belly button. This is new and mostly uncomfortable… Although last week Brady did get to feel her move for the first time. We were in Tennesee  getting ready for the drift event DMGGMASD and just before bed My belly started to MOVE! I could physically see her kicking me so I had Brady run over and feel. His eyes got huge and he said “is that her???” Brady was really excited!

Paco just gets annoyed when she kicks, usually its at night and she will kick at him because he is pushing too much on me… Silly puppy…

Slasher is a girl!

Well we just got back from the doctors office. We finally found out the little slasher is a girl! Of course it was not easy to figure out since she kept moving around and crossing her legs and covering her little face. What a mess. It took the ultrasound technician about an hour to get all the measurements due to the constant movement and hiding. Nonetheless we got to see all the bones, each toe and finger, the heart, the spine, the rib cage… everything. She is absolutely perfect! I know she is going to be a spoiled mess though! Well she is about 6.5 inches and 11 oz. She is 19 weeks and going to be mommy’s little swimmer! Well she is kicking the hell out of me now, mainly because paco is laying on her… but before I pee myself I am signing off!

Newest picture of the baby!

So we had a bit of a scare earlier this week. With all the stress of Brady’s leg I put too much pressure on myself. I started to cramp up and leak fluid, which is not a good sign… So we went to the doctor to check if everything was ok, which it was. We got to hear the strong heartbeat and see our beautiful baby! Of course slasher was slashing around, not wanting a picture to be taken… but slasher was still JUST long enough to get one good picture in. There were arms flailing, legs kicking, body turning… it was pretty funny (and reassuring that everything was ok). So in two weeks we find out if little slasher is a girl or boy… so get excited!!!

Slasher the baby wonder…

So on Thursday at Brady’s softball game, he got injured… Sad story since he tore one of the ligaments in his knee. So we had to take him to the hospital and wait for HOURS. We left around 2am and now he has to wear a silly knee brace and use crutches (which he opts not to use against my better judgement)… So needless to say by Friday morning we were both very tired but around 9am something woke me up. That something was the first sign of movement from the baby. It felt like a butterfly slashing around… it was crazy feeling. The funniest part about it was the day before I had talked about wanting to slash something… So now fetus is called Slasher… Morning sickness is now all the way gone (YAYYY!!!) and I can sort of cook again… raw meat is still a little iffy…. But it is true, the second trimester is a whole new ball game! I feel wonderful and energized! I love it!!!

On Oct 7 we should be able to find out the sex of the baby… also very exciting… This is the beginning of amazing times!

On another note, Paco has become even MORE protective… Now it isn’t limited to me just laying down… even in the kitchen the cat isn’t allowed to come near me! It is too funny… My little rumbly pup.

Paco my savior

So lately my sweet little puppy, Paco, has been oh so protective. When Brady is away, Paco makes sure that he lays right next to me and keeps the pesky cat of ours away. Should I take a nap on the couch, Paco lays with his head to my belly and sleeps with me. If the cat comes within 5 feet of me, Paco “flies” off the couch (he is so light that when he jumps he soars in the air for a second or two) and attacks the cat. Now this “attack” looks very ferocious but it’s pretty harmless. He mostly bites the cat in the neck or leg (softly) and makes a low growling noise. Its so cute seeing as how they are the exact same size. Although, now the cat thinks it’s a game… so she will try and sneak under the blanket that  I have over me and play with Paco or as soon as Paco comes back to lay with me the cat tries to play with my hand or hair. Basically, I have the best little puppy in the world. He is super sweet and a good watch dog.

On another note… the morning sickness is gone. I am starting to get my energy back and I have found out the food that “fetus” (name will be inserted when we know what we’re having) does not care for. Food on the “Don’t bother to eat because it won’t stay down” list include, but is not limited to:

-Ribs

-Red meat of any kind, especially if it’s pink

-Ginger Ale

-Hot dogs

-Swedish Fish

-Too much salad

So basically meat is on the no-no list… Which sucks since Brady is the biggest meat eater there is… But “fetus” DOES like ice cream… a lot… but only vanilla with chocolate syrup. Well tomorrow we have another doctor’s visit. We should be getting another picture of our wonderful baby! Brady and his mom will be joining me, so there should be some good updates!

So after we found out…

Well as the story goes… we had our celebratory Starbuck’s (a mint mocha chip mmmmmmmm) then I was off to work. As you can assume, I was absolutely useless at work since all I could think about was the fact that I was a mom now! Whoa, that realization was crazy for me. So days passed… we had our first doctors visit which showed us nothing. Brady and I were sweating when they said they couldn’t find anything in the sonogram… then half way through the visit I realized I had my days WAY wrong and I was only about 4 weeks along… so the doctor said it was normal to be at the stage I was at. At this point, I was feeling GREAT! I thought “man if this is how pregnancy is then I have nothing to worry about” at this point I could still eat like normal, wasn’t super tired, and felt no sickness…. WHOA was I in for a treat! About 5 and a half weeks in that’s when the weight of the world became a barnacle on my back. I was DEAD tired almost all the time (well I still am) but no morning sickness yet. Then almost exactly on the sixth week the nausea started. It started slow then to full on, the toilet is my best friend, can’t hold anything down sickness. Miserable, pretty much the only word I can use to describe it. So that whole week was terrible. Which brings us into the seventh week (now) where I feel almost better but not 100%. So we’ll see where we go next…

Hello.

Hello out there! So as many of you have heard, Brady and I are having a baby! WHoooo! This is a very exciting time in our lives, and I would like to share all of our precious moments with the world. I will also include updates on all the other “wonderful” parts of bringing a new life into the world.

So it begins…

Well it all started when a man loved a woman, the lights were dim, candles were lit… oh, maybe that’s a little too much… So it all started one Saturday morning I woke up feeling a little bit off. I had a sneaking suspicion that I might be pregnant even before I was “late” so I had bought a pregnancy test the week before. Well, I woke up early… took the test… and low and behold two lines popped up almost immediately. Trying to act as nonchalant as I could, I woke Brady up by saying “Honey, you’re taking me to breakfast. We’re pregnant.” Of course I could hardly keep my skin on but I wanted to see how Brady would react. Much like I had assumed, he jumped out of bed and kissed me obviously as excited as I am. Well, I had to go to work in about an hour so there really wasn’t much time for food, but we did have a celebratory Starbuck’s.

More of the story to be continued…
